Hello Blog fans

A much overdue update for photos from our trip from Sydney over to New Caledonia. Unfortunately the place is a French overseas colony, and very much like provincial France. As we went there over a weekend it meant that everything was shut. It doesn't also help that it was 'winter' there, so not as many tourists around to cater for.
The photos then...

New Caledonia is surrounded by a very impressive reef, best seen from the air:

A very different landscape compared to Australia:

A view from our hostel; which was right on the top of a hill overlooking the marina at Noumea:

Our first, and sadly only, full day to go for a look around the place:

A bit of a surprise was going for a bit of a wander down by the harbour and finding a car show. Even better was finding a Monster(ish) Truck! I'm pretty sure it is the only one on the island:

An aggressive kind of fighting shrimp in the aquarium:

Sunset over Noumea:

With the lack of anywhere being open we were forced into desperate measures; we ate in McDonalds. Here is a little pic for all you fans of the croque-monsieur out there. I can assure all fans of the cross-channel variety that the McDonald's own version is just as bad...in case any of you were wondering:

Our time in New Caledonia over we caught the bus to the airport through some exceptional countryside:

Our fancily painted plane we flew back to Sydney in:

More photos of Australia to come, stay tuned...
